Dr. Hernández Orsini grew up in Juana Díaz, PR. He studied Dentistry at the University of Puerto Rico School of Dental Medicine and completed his specialty training and degree of Master of Science at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He also completed a degree of Master of Public Health at the University of North Carolina. He has been a faculty member of the Orthodontics Department at the UPR School of Dental Medicine his entire career and more recently at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

He currently holds a position as Director of the American Board of Orthodontics, institution of which he has been part of as Diplomate and Examiner for many years. He has published several scientific articles and has lectured in meetings held nationally and internationally. His hobbies are travelling, working out, running, going to the beach and playing golf. Above all, he enjoys spending quality time with his family and friends.
